LIFT Enrichment’s “Kids Can Cook” LIVE Cooking Lessons is an interactive after-school program for students to learn about health, nutrition and how to cook delicious, homemade meals from the comfort of your home. 

It’s open to elementary students who may be picky eaters, don’t know the basics of cooking or just want to expand their palates and eat more vegetables.

Our engaging classes are taught by Chef Teachers who inspire students to cook a meals with their parents right when the lesson ends!

Culinary Fundamentals


Students will get a digital cookbook, the “Kids Can Cook Master Class” ($200 value) and learn key culinary lifeskills from saute to emulsion.


How It Works - Our 5 Week Session

We’ll send you the recipes plus a private link for your kids to join the LIVE class at the days and times below.  Kids are encouraged to WATCH the cooking show, engage with our amazing Chef Teachers and then try cooking the recipe that week.  Parents can join as well!



Lesson 1: Veggie Quesadilla with Mango Salsa

  • Nutrition Focus:  Mangos, Bell Peppers and Vitamin C
  • Culture Focus:  Origins of quesadilla and "salsa fresca"
  • Culinary Technique:  Grating, tips and tricks, and Measuring


Lesson 2: Healthy Nachos with Black Beans & Homemade Cheddar Cheese Sauce

  • Nutrition Focus:  Cheddar Cheese, Calcium, How to make nachos healthier
  • Culture Focus:  Origins of nachos from southern Texas
  • Culinary Technique:  Making a French "Roux" to bind a sauce 


Lesson 3: Crunchy Ground Turkey Tacos

  • Nutrition Focus:  Ground turkey and why to eat lean protein
  • Culture Focus:  Origins of crunchy-shell tacos from Tex-Mex cuisine
  • Culinary Technique:  Plating for visual appeal before serving 


Lesson 4: Guacamole, Pico de Gallo & Homemade Chips

  • Nutrition Focus:  Avocado and healthy fats
  • Culture Focus:  Origins of guacamole and pico de gallo
  • Culinary Technique:  Baking to make low-calorie chips, Chopping


Lesson 5: Breakfast Burritos with Eggs, Potatoes & Veggies

  • Nutrition Focus:  Eggs, whites vs yolks & Potatoes
  • Culture Focus:  Origins of the burrito and its many variations
  • Culinary Technique:  ​Par-cook to make cooking easy and fun

    You choose to join the Tuesday or Wednesday class, and stay with that group for 5 weeks.

    * Tuesdays, Dates:  4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19
    * Wednesdays, Dates:  4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20

    Each week will have the same curriculum.

FAQs


What are the technology requirements to participate?

Students only need a laptop or tablet with a video camera, high-speed Internet access and a quiet space to focus. It is not required to join by video, but is recommened because our Chef Teachers like to see the happy, excited faces of our students.

Is there a refund policy?

Parents can get a complete refund anytime before the start of the second lesson.

What makes this program different from other online classes?

We get students to cook with you at home! Students are already at home most of the day, and after this class you can jump in the kitchen and make the dish using our cookbook. Kids in our class are more likely to: help chop vegetables with their parents, make chicken tenders from scratch and eat vegetables like bell peppers, lettuce, zucchini or cauliflower in new ways.
